Police Nab 99 Suspects, Rescue 86 Victims in Katsina Crackdown

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested 99 suspects for various crimes and rescued 86 victims, including kidnapped persons and human trafficking victims, during operations conducted in October 2025.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Aliyu Abubakar Sadiq, made the disclosure during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Katsina on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

According to him, the arrests and rescues resulted from the commitment and resilience of officers in maintaining peace and order across the state.

Out of the total arrests, 18 suspects were apprehended for armed robbery, 28 for homicide, five for attempted murder, and 20 for rape and related offences, while 28 others were nabbed for drug-related crimes.

Ninety-seven cases have been charged to court, while investigations are ongoing in 22 others,” the PPRO stated.

He further revealed that the police successfully rescued 47 kidnapped victims and 39 victims of human trafficking, all of whom have been reunited with their families.

Items recovered during the operations include one AK-47 rifle, one locally made gun, 183 rounds of ammunition, three vehicles, three motorcycles, one tricycle, and 201 stolen animals comprising 76 cows and 27 sheep. Police also recovered 131 illicit drug substances, including Fentanyl, Exol, cannabis, Pregabalin, and Tramadol, and 100 metres of stolen electric cables.

DSP Sadiq commended the officers for their professionalism and assured that the Command remains determined to sustain the fight against crime in the state.

He appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and the Katsina State Government for their continuous support to the Command.

While warning against the spread of fake news, the PPRO urged residents to always verify information and report suspicious activities to the authorities.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, calling for stronger cooperation between the police and citizens in the fight against crime across Katsina State.
